The Galaxy A36 combines a vibrant Super AMOLED display, premium-looking glass back, capable main camera, and long software support. Its 120Hz screen and strong stereo speakers make it well suited to streaming, browsing, and everyday entertainment. The six-year software update commitment is a meaningful advantage for buyers who plan to keep their phone for several years, while features such as Gemini and Samsung’s video editor add practical value.
Performance is mixed for its price. The Snapdragon chipset handles everyday tasks and delivers surprisingly strong PUBG performance, even though it falls behind some competing mid-range processors in raw power. The main camera captures respectable photos in normal lighting, and 4K video recording is available on both the front and rear cameras. Its glass back and refined design also give it a more premium feel than the plastic frame might suggest.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 feels underpowered for the asking price, particularly when competing phones offer stronger processing capabilities. The 8MP ultrawide camera lacks the detail of the main camera, and low-light processing can make otherwise normal scenes appear unusually dark, especially in night mode. The optical fingerprint sensor is also slower than Samsung’s ultrasonic alternatives. With no expandable storage, buyers must rely on the built-in capacity.
The Vivo V80 Lite 5G offers a sharper curved AMOLED display, a larger battery, stronger water resistance, and reverse wired charging, making it attractive for multimedia and endurance. The Oppo Reno 15F adds a larger battery, much faster 80W charging, a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, and a glass-and-metal build. The Galaxy A36 counters with six years of software updates, a glass back, and strong PUBG optimization. Choose based on whether long-term software support, battery life, or charging and camera versatility matter most.

At Rs. 135,998 for the 8GB/256GB model, the Samsung Galaxy A36 is hard to justify. Its strengths are real: a bright 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, stereo speakers, IP67 protection, Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both sides, 45W charging and up to six major Android upgrades.
The problem is what sits around it. The Samsung Galaxy A56 is listed at Rs. 129,999 and adds an Exynos 1580, a 12 MP ultrawide, an aluminium frame and HDR10+ support. The Vivo V70 FE costs Rs. 121,999 and brings a 7000 mAh battery with 90W charging.
Meanwhile the A36 has a slow optical fingerprint reader, buzzy vibration, cameras unchanged from the A35 and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 that feels underpowered for the price.
Verdict: buy it only if you find it clearly cheaper than the Galaxy A56, or if smooth PUBG on a Samsung matters more to you than the A56's extras.
The display is the A36's best feature. The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel has a 1080 x 2340 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits in high brightness mode and 1900 nits peak, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. Colours are rich, touch response is quick, and outdoor visibility is clearly better than the Galaxy A35, which GSMArena's brightness tests also support.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4 nm) with an Adreno 710 GPU is paired with 8GB RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It is clearly faster than budget chips, but for this price it feels underpowered.
It is a good casual gaming phone, but not a fast phone for its price.
The rear setup has a 50 MP main camera with OIS, an 8 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP macro, with a 12 MP selfie camera. The rear hardware is unchanged from the Galaxy A35, while GSMArena rates the new 12 MP selfie camera as better than the A35's 13 MP unit.
The Galaxy A36 keeps a 5000 mAh battery, which gives around 7 to 8 hours of screen-on time with brightness at 60 to 70%. That is fair, but rivals with larger silicon-carbon batteries last longer.
Charging has improved to 45W wired: about 66% in 30 minutes and a full charge in 68 minutes. There is no charger in the box, so you need to buy a 45W adapter separately to get this speed; an older 25W Samsung charger works, only slower.
The Galaxy A36 runs Android 15 with One UI 7, and Samsung promises up to six major Android upgrades. The visual refresh and smooth animations make it one of the most polished interfaces at this price.
AI features include Gemini, Circle to Search, Object Eraser, edit suggestions, AI Select and Read Aloud, plus a built-in video editor. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Galaxy A56 uses an Exynos 1580, a 12 MP ultrawide, an aluminium frame and supports HDR10+, while the A36 uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, an 8 MP ultrawide and a plastic frame. Both share a 6.7-inch 120Hz screen, 5000 mAh battery, 45W charging and six Android upgrades.
Yes, for casual and regular gaming. PUBG supports HDR graphics with Extreme frame rate and averages around 60 fps, and it has been reported to run more smoothly than on the Galaxy A56. It still feels slower than rivals in app loading.
Yes. The Galaxy A36 supports Always On Display, and you can schedule it or keep it on all day. The cheaper Galaxy A26 does not offer this feature.
It includes Gemini, Circle to Search, Object Eraser, edit suggestions, AI Select and Read Aloud, along with a built-in video editor. These run on One UI 7, and Samsung promises up to six major Android upgrades.
The Galaxy A36 uses UFS 2.2 storage, not the faster UFS 3.1. In Pakistan it comes as 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and there is no memory card slot, so choose your storage carefully.
